Pinarayi Vijayan is a member of the politburo, the apex body of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). The political programme of CPI(M) is governed by the revolutionary Marxist theory of dialectical materialism. The party applies Marxism-Leninism to Indian conditions and devises its praxis to bring about a people’s democratic revolution by ending the imperialist, big bourgeois, and landlord exploitation of the common people. The CPI(M) envisages this transformation by building a left democratic front that can implement an alternative to the existing bourgeois-landlord policies.
Pinarayi Vijayan has shaped his political career based on these principles upheld by his party. He put a lot of hard work into the organisation of the working class across the state. He has always stood by the values of secularism and democracy and led many historical fights taken up by the left front against the growing communal and majoritarian tendencies in the society. He stands for equality among all genders, castes, creeds, and colours. He believes a world is possible where people won’t get exploited for making profits, segregated in the name of caste, and hate each other for religious differences.
