Pinarayi Vijayan is a communist leader from the Indian state of Kerala. He is a politburo member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the current Chief Minister of Kerala. He was elected to the Kerala Legislative assembly five times and served as the Minister of Electricity and Co-operation during the period 1996-98. He dedicated his life to organising the working class and the welfare of the common people. Throughout his political career, Pinarayi Vijayan has stood by the values of democracy, and fought tooth and nail against the growing communal tendencies in the society. During his time as the Chief Minister of Kerala, he has lifted the well known Kerala model of inclusive development to the next level and won accolades for those efforts from all across the globe.
